maskisin | Moccasin Portfolio
I started making moccasins in the spring of 2025, after finding two moccasins made by my late kokom. I found a newborn moccasin in the plains style, and in the pucker toe style in a bag of hide scraps from her fabric bin that I received after she passed away in 2019. To read more of my journey you can read my story on my about page. Below are some examples of various moccasins I've made so far.
I continue to learn from others, often seeking people sharing on various online platforms. Locally I must thank Theresa Houle from my school who has shared invaluable knowledge, as well as renowned moccasin makers that I have studied such as Cree artist John Murie, and Dene artist Gladys Langkamp (Nakeeya Native Crafts) for sharing tutorials on youtube. Your sharing has made it possible to learn a skill that my kokom never had a chance to pass on. To see more styles I have made please visit Moccasin Styles
